One gallon of water a day to lose weight
Can drinking a gallon of water each day help you to lose weight?
A lot of people are interested in losing weight, and for good reason. If you are a little bit overweight, losing a little bit of it can help you to feel a lot better physically. It can also give you a boost of confidence if you desire a slimmer figure, so that’s another upside.
Staying within a healthy body-to-weight range is also important for your health. Obesity can cause a number of health problems, and can contribute to a wide range of different medical conditions and chronic illnesses. Generally speaking, you’re going to be a lot healthier if you maintain a healthy body weight – which the most important thing of all!
Our quality of health will truly affect our quality of life – and to live the best life possible, we should do everything we can to maintain a healthy body.
You might have heard rumors that drinking a gallon of water each day can help you to lose weight… but is it true?
Here’s what you need to know
Drinking water is good for you
Your body needs water to survive. Our body is actually made up of mostly water – so it’s not surprising that we would start to feel negative effects when we don’t get enough to drink.
Our body uses water in all of our tissues, cells, and organs. It helps to regulate temperatures and serves to maintain many bodily functions.
It also protects many vital parts of our body – including our joints, tissues, and spinal cord. And of course, we use water whenever we breathe, sweat, or digest anything – so getting enough is extremely important.
With that being said, drinking plenty of water is one way to flush excess weight from our system, as it can help the body to be less bloated. The body tends to store extra water weight when we don’t get enough to drink.
How can drinking water contribute to weight loss?
As it turns out, drinking water can contribute to weight loss in two different ways.
First of all, it can help to flush excess weight from our system and reduce bloating.
Secondly, drinking as much as a gallon of water per day (spread throughout the day, of course) can help us to feel fuller, and can contribute to appetite suppression. When our stomach is full of water, there’s simply less room for food – so our food cravings will diminish, and when we do eat, we won’t eat as much.
How to drink a gallon of water per day
If you plan to drink a gallon of water over the course of a day, you’ll definitely want to spread it out so that you’re not drinking it all at once (as that wouldn’t be good for you).
Start by drinking 2 glasses when you wake up, to help flush waste out of your body and to prepare for the day ahead. Before eating breakfast, drink 1 more glass of water.
Between breakfast and lunch, try to drink 3 more glasses. Of course, you’ll want to spread them out a bit so that you don’t drink them all at once – and you might need to adjust these levels if you work out or sweat a lot, etc.
With lunch, drink 2 glasses of water.
Between lunch and dinner, drink 3 more glasses of water. You might even want to add a bit of lemon to it now, as well as some ice – to make it cold and refreshing.
Try to drink 2 more glasses of water with dinner. By the time you finish these, you will have come close to consuming a gallon of water. This should also give you time to flush some of it out before bedtime, as you will have completed the task well before it was time to lay down – which may help to keep nighttime bathroom trips to a minimum, thereby increasing the quality of your rest at the same time.
